Hatun Dilic (65 ) is hated by all her neighbours in the village of Dilekkaya which has homes for 115 families .Three years ago Hatun gave up her job as caretaker of  Anavarza castle in Kozan. Her husband died fifteen  years ago. They were given the job as caretakers nearly forty seven years ago. At that time, their lives were very poor. They lived in a tent and  kept animals and worked on the land. One day they  started digging to build a new home in their garden and  found a very old   picture  of a fish. It was made from small coloured stones. They reported it to the government who gave them  TL500, as a reward, and asked the couple  to protect the picture from thieves and damage. They began to build in a new place and found another very old stone picture of snakes. They secretly reported it to the museum in Adana. They had to sell one of their chickens for TL 10 to pay for the ride to Adana. This time  they asked for a job, instead of money. They were given uniforms and guns and were made caretakers of the area.

         Husband Amber worked at night and Hatun worked during the day to protect the 1,300 hectare area from thieves. They told all their neighbours not to touch any of the stones. They took  many of their neighbours to court  at different times and became very unpopular.

           Hatun says they had told  their neighbours not to build in the area, but they were often attacked  and had rocks thrown at them. When Hatun stopped working she was given a Certificate of thanks from the Ministry of Culture and  Tourism.  She says that no one will come to her funeral, but she is still happy, because she says that the State loves her.
